Yes, seriously. Some turtles, like freshwater species, can absorb oxygen through a special area called the cloaca. This lets them stay underwater for hours or even months without coming up for air, especially during winter when lakes freeze.

Some turtles can live over 150 years.
The giant tortoises from the Galápagos Islands are famous for their extreme lifespan. That means a turtle alive today could have been born before cars were invented.
