Met Gala Critique: EJ Johnson Calls Out Celebrities for Lackluster Fashion Choices

EJ Johnson calls 2026 Met Gala a The Met Gala, one of the most anticipated events in the fashion world, has once again sparked controversy with its lackluster fashion choices. This year's 'Costume Art' themed event saw some of the biggest names in attendance, but according to EJ Johnson, a socialite and media personality, they failed to deliver on the fashion front.

EJ Johnson's Scathing Critique
In a recent Instagram post, EJ Johnson, child of NBA legend Magic Johnson and Cookie Johnson, shared his thoughts on this year's Met Gala. He began by calling the event 'a graveyard' and stating that the looks were 'awful on awful on awful.' Johnson specifically named Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian as some of the celebrities who fell short of expectations.

Beyoncé's Look Compared to Grim Reaper and Skeletor
Johnson took particular aim at Beyoncé's look, comparing it to both the Grim Reaper and animated supervillain Skeletor. He insisted that this was not about star power but about execution, stating 'no one was even trying' despite the caliber of the guest list.

Emma Chamberlain: The Only One Who Came to Work
However, Johnson did praise 24-year-old influencer Emma Chamberlain for her hand-painted custom Mugler gown. He stated that she was 'the only one who came to work' and gave the audience a vintage Mugler look that was 'so beautiful on her.'

A Plea to Let the Met Ball Go
Johnson closed his post by pleading for the event to be discontinued, stating 'Let the Met Ball go. I'm gonna shed a tear right now if I can.' Whether or not Johnson's critique lands with fashion fans, it is clear that he is not interested in being polite about it.

The Met Gala has once again become a topic of controversy, with EJ Johnson's scathing critique sparking debate among fashion enthusiasts. While some may agree with his assessment, others will undoubtedly defend the celebrities who attended this year's event. One thing is certain: the Met Gala will continue to be a hotly anticipated and discussed event in the fashion world.
